Hal Mayer is a versatile artist based in the Midlands, known for seamlessly blending Horror and Hip-Hop art forms to create a unique movement style. With a focus on Finger Tutting, Popping, and Krump, Hal showcases the spine-chilling capabilities of the human body, often through live performances and film projects that culminate in immersive Horror Theatre experiences.
Since 2016, Hal has garnered recognition for their work, gracing esteemed venues and events such as Breakin’ Convention, Sadlers Wells, and Nottingham Contemporary. Collaborating with respected UK hip-hop pioneers including Birdgang, Ivan Blackstock, and Avant Garde Dance has further enriched their artistic journey.
Hal's uncanny ability to distort reality in intriguing ways pushes boundaries and explores the intersection of different art forms. Grounded in the cathartic nature of the Horror genre, their work provides audiences with a space to confront and process fears, offering comfort and understanding. Hal's own journey with Bipolar Disorder informs their art, driving a desire to create works that resonate with others navigating similar struggles.
